Watson’s New Role Part of Evolution of Bad Robot Games, Expansion into Game Publishing
Bad Robot Games, the video game division of Bad Robot, has brought on respected game maker, former Epic Games executive and Squanch Games co-founder and CEO Tanya Watson as COO and President to help lead the company’s mission to continually reinvent how stories are played. Watson joining marks the evolution of Bad Robot Games as it expands into game publishing in addition to its already established game development studio.
“Bad Robot Games will build on Bad Robot’s DNA of storytelling and worldbuilding and apply the special lens of what makes games and interactivity distinct,” said Watson. “Our publishing organization rethinks the way creatives are freed to focus on their talents, and looks at interactive entertainment in new ways. We are looking to work with visionary creatives to build amazing worlds.”
Watson brings with her a deep background leading large and small teams across multiple gaming platforms. She helms Robot Games’ incredibly diverse and talented team with CEO Anna Sweet. Watson will steer Bad Robot Games’ publishing operations as the company launches rich immersive worlds, across a wide range of game genres and platforms, that are extensible to multiple mediums. Watson and team will leverage Bad Robot’s games industry veterans, film and TV colleagues, and its extended network of talent to create truly innovative worlds and stories.
Tanya Watson comes from a decorated background in games. She formerly co-founded Squanch Games with Rick and Morty Co-Creator, Justin Roiland. Before making independent games at Squanch, Watson was an Executive Producer at Epic Games, working on Fortnite and other massively popular IP like Gears of War and Unreal Tournament.
